Carol Ann Hanna
Carol Ann Hanna, 75, passed away at Liberty Commons Nursing Facility on Thursday morning, September 21, 2017.
She was born and raised in Roanoke Rapids, except for a few years in Richmond Virginia after marriage. Carol was the most loving and caring Christian woman you could ever hope to meet. She was a prayer warrior with a strong faith in God. She took her first steps in church as we grew under the Ministry or our grandmother, Rev. Mollie J. Finch. She worked hard all of her life until many health issues prevented it. She loved singing gospel music with her sisters Joyce and Mitzi Cahoon. She also played keyboard for Morris Cannon and the Virginia Laymen for several years.
Carol was very much loved by the staff and residents at Liberty Commons, who all came to her on a regular basis for prayer or just to talk. She was known there simply as Hanna or Mama Carol. She was dearly loved by all the transport people in her life who took her to the doctors and dialysis.
Carol was a member of Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church and formerly Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Sr. and Mary Francis Finch and her daughter, Deborah H. Hale, her grandparents Hubert and Mollie Finch and her sister-in-law Ginny Finch.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth E. Hanna of Ashland, VA; her sons, Kenny Hanna and his wife Rachel of Palm Coast FL, and Garry Hanna and his wife Pam of Roanoke Rapids; her faithful son-in-law Ron Hale of Halifax, who stood by and cared for her as his own Mother; grandsons, Justin Hale and his wife Emily of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Matthew Hanna of Roanoke Rapids; one greatgrandson Adam Hale, son of Justin and Emily; her sister Joyce Finch Balmer and her brother Lloyd Finch, Jr. both of Roanoke Rapids; nephews Blayden Finch, Bryan Finch and David Balmer; nieces, Missy Balmer Walthall and Janie Balmer; her close cousins Barbara Matthews, Derenda Clements, Gloria Ellis and Joyce King Wiggins and several others.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Askew Funereal and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Tony Smith and Rev. Ken Arrington officiating.
Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.
The Family will receive friends Monday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral and Cremation Services and other times at Lloyd Finch's home, 1528 Brickell Street, Roanoke Rapids.
